ICGEM Expert workshop 2026

On 15th and 16th of October 2026 the ICGEM Workshop took place in Potsdam, Germany. The workshop brought together renown experts from the field and the whole SAMDAT team. The 2 days in the historical heart of Geodesy: Telegraphenberg Helmert Haus brought positive results. SAMDAT team has presented the recent developments. Followed by discussions on the future of the ICGEM service. In-person meeting with the whole team allowed for a constructive and informed exchange of experience with the experts.

As a result, the adjustments in implementation of the SAMDAT project are made with a bigger picture in mind of serving the needs of the scientific community.

Thanks to participants for their time and ideas. Special thanks to GFZ (Helmholz Centre for Geosciences) for hosting the workshop and providing the facilities.

Participation of expert practitioners helps us harmonise ICGEM products and services with community standards and practices of other institutions. During the workshop we exchanged ideas on data standardisation, data format and metadata schema. Cooperation with users reinforces ICGEM commitment as a sustainable data platform.
